The NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice is designed to assess professional competence in the workplace. Candidates are required to demonstrate their skills, knowledge, and experience in managing health and safety systems, identifying and controlling workplace risks, ensuring legal compliance, and promoting a positive health and safety culture across organisations.
This qualification is suitable for health and safety practitioners, managers, supervisors, and advisors who are responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving occupational health and safety practices in line with organisational and legal requirements.
TIOSH offers an international NVQ delivery service through its secure online NVQ Portfolio Learning Assistant. Assessment is based on real workplace evidence, such as policies, risk assessments, method statements, and reports. Candidate knowledge is assessed through professional discussions and written reflective accounts, ensuring robust, practical, and evidence-based assessment.
There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, however, the potential candidate must be able to demonstrate that they can meet the skills, knowledge and experience requirements of the compacting before enrolment.

Learning Assistant is a Quals.direct on-line e-portfolio software used by TIOSH. During the initial assessment your assessor will identify the most appropriate optional units and provide advice and guidance regarding the range of evidence required. At this stage you will be introduced to Learning Assistant and uploading evidence for your NVQ. Feedback regarding your progress will be provided in a variety of ways: contact records transmitted using Learning Assistant, which also includes a % complete indicator. Your assessor will also maintain regular contact by phone, text message and email.
Your assessor will provide support throughout the assessment process to ensure timely completion of your NVQ.
The NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice qualifies the holder to apply for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Black Skill Card (https://www.cscs.uk.com/card-type/skilled-worker/).
